New Guy / Intro
« on: September 26, 2007, 02:17:04 AM »
I have been lurking here reading the posts for a few weeks and finally decided to just jump in. I am really pleased to find a forum for the H&R/NEF single shot rifle. I have been going back through the past posts and am in awe of the amount of knowledge and info available. A few years back I bought a Buffalo Classic on a whim which I instantly regretted when I got home. I stuck the BC in the safe and forgot about it. Stupid impulse buy. Last October my wife and I were invited to a pumpkin shoot and it occurred to me that a .45-70 would probably do a great job of blowing up pumpkins. I dug out the BC and picked up a few boxes of Remington 405 gr ammo. When it came time to shoot everyone was chipping away at the pumpkins with their AK's and SKS's and AR's, I picked out a pumpkin and squeezed off a round. WOW! Instant splatter and explosion of pumpkin pulp and then another and another. Sixty rounds later I was nursing a slightly sore shoulder and the great pumpkin massacree was over. The range was covered with dead pumpkins and I was hooked on the rifle that I had written off as a "stupid impulse buy". Since then I have acquired the BC's counterpart in .38-55 and a Handi Rifle also in .45-70. I also started reloading. I am having so much fun shooting.

At any rate that is my long winded intro. I look forward to getting to know you guys and exchanging info. Thank you. Oh, by the way. I am located in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts and a few of us still shoot! LOL!
