CZ52 firing pin change
« on: September 18, 2007, 04:42:30 AM »
Just got a cz52.  Over on Mak.com they sell a cutom firing pin that is claimed to reduce the trigger pull weight.  In studying the pistol you see the trigger does not seem to be linked to the firing pin.  How is this magic achieved?  Put in a 16.5# Wolff recoil spring and reduced the muzzle flip and cut the brass ejection distance from 40 ft to 10 using the Romanian surplus ammo.  Its pretty accurate too.
Great little gun for the price.

Not a CZ52 owner, but I would assume it lowers the trigger pull by eliminating the firing pin block safety.

If other words...it's not the firing pin itself that is causing the lighter trigger pull, but the modified (eliminated, actually) firing pin block mechanism--you no longer has such a stiff spring to over-ride in order for the firing pin to travel forward.

In other words...you get the benefit of a lighter trigger pull, at the expense of one safety feature.
