Mauser Trigger Guard Question
« on: September 13, 2007, 06:14:50 AM »
I'm ready to start ordering some parts for my Mauser project and was going to order the trigger guard assembly from Gun Parts Corp. and they don't list the Charles Daly action. Which one to I order to ensure that it will fit properly? They list the Interarms Mark X and the Santa Barbara and both have differnet numbers.

panhandle:  I believe, but am not sure, that the Charles Daly, the Interarms Mark X and the Santa Barbara are all the same Mauser action, the intermediate length action that is also known as the M48/M48A.  I believe it is also the same action used on the Howa rifles.  I would call Gunparts Corp and see what they have and whether it will fit your rifle.  HTH.  Mikey.

IIRC, Mauser bottom metal sizes are sorted by action length - so, if your action's a .30-06 length, the standard parts for a large ring M-98 will fit.

If it's a shorter action length, say .308 length - the standard-sized parts will be too long between guard screws.
The magnum actions (.375 H&H, etc - usually a square bridge) are longer between the guard screws than the .30-06 length.

I would measure the distance between the guard screws on your gun, and give any supplier a call for a match.
