Price of 454 field grade used ?

I wonder what a fair price for a freedomarms 454 casull field grade 7 1/2 with dies and 100 new starline brass. excellant condition.  Whats a new one selling for.  Also have orginal box and papers.  thanks

I know of one here in CA that is asking 1900 w/scope. Managed to talk 'em down to 1500 w/o scope out the door but @ 1600, I just ordered a new'un just the way I wanted. He was a lil' upset that I would rather wait 8~10 weeks for a new one. When one is over 60, whats 10weeks? Everytime I sneeze, there's a b'day, Christmas and a dyin'

Just a couple years ago I saw one at the local dealer that he ordered from FA and sold new in box for under $1200. That's NEW not used. He also sold Premiers for about $1600. List price has gone up very little since then so I assume retail price has also.

I bought mine used about 3 months ago for $1300. It is field grade with the wood grips, holster(FA), 454  with an extra cyl in 45 Colt.
Also 200 new brass and 100 once fired brass.

Local gun shop would not budge on a used mod 83 in 475 recently. No extras except micarta grips. $1875!

Really? I don't recall ever being told that once - never mind a million times. In the "important announcements" section I can see the spellcheck feature was added 3/27/07 and there is not one announcement since to the effect of spell check causing a problem. I will turn it off however.

Haven't told you specifically but Matt and I have both responded to concerns like yours literally hundreds of times as have many moderators saying to turn it off. Folks just had to have a spell check and Matt found one that was worked "sort of" but not with smiles. We told folks that within a day of it being added and hundreds of times since. Maybe not quite a million yet.

Someone is a little over...Just bring in a couple of gunbroker prices to him....Although used 475s are harder to find

bought my first field grade 454 for $1000.00 used in 99% condtion , with the box and express sights,  bought my 2 ed  field grade for $890.00 with macarta grips. 2 port magnaport, and jewled hammer & trigger in 98 % but no box, bought my preimer grade in 99% condtion with ssk muzzel brake and trigger job & ssk  scope mount with a tasco pp3,  and box , boyt case,  dies, brass & bullets for $ 1400.00 of a good friend who needed money i gave him a year to buy it back at the same price but he did not after a year so its mine

The main reason premier grades cost more than field grades is due to the life time warranty...to the original owner.  Once a premier is sold used its no better than a field grade but for some reason people will still pay more for a used premier grade than a new field grade...got me???

Location, location, location. Location (read: Market area). As also in real estate + demand is why Things are exchanged at the market rate ~ called entrepreneurship/free enterprise. As stated in my previous ~ a local dealer was asking $1900 for an Field Grade 83 454 w/leupold 2X in TSOB mounts. Altho we negotiated down to 1500 out the door w/o scope ~ for me, it was just too close the new price for me to drop the hammer. Obviously, he was counting on the longish 8 ~ 10 week production lead-time to tip the scale in his favor.  As we can see from numerous posts here, the price on used can vary greatly. Also, someone purchasing one 10~12yrs ago @ half what they are running now may be willing to sell at a much lower cost than a recently acquired unit.


My new 83 is in transit ~ should see it today. It'll be my last firearm acquisition or the last of my wife :-) New/used, still big $s regardless  :-)

if you are buying I saw one on ruger dot com for 1200 or 1150.
that is about the cost of one now, from what I can tell.. I have not seen one cheaper than that in the last year.. but it is possible I guess.
