i see your point, and agree with you to a certain degree, i use 180gr bullets at about 2500 out of my .308 for big red and sika deer in the thick native bush of the north island of new zealand where a lot of shots can be at 15 feet at an angry red stag during the rut, but in my wsm i want the extra velocity and energy for shooting big red deer at longer ranges in the open country, where they can go anywhere up to 400lb dressed out, and in a lot of the places i hunt 400 yard shots arnt uncommon, and with a low amount of animals you need to take advantage of any reasonable shot you can, so yes the difference in energy, and wind drift especially helps a lot when your talking a 140gr accubond @ 3200 like some of my friends are using as opposed to jst under 3000 fps which is the max i can get, although with 3/4 minute groups
