slug expansion on big game,coyotes.

Wanted to know how much expansion a 12 ga. 1.ounce foster slug expands to on deer,antelope,coyotes.im not requried to use a shotgun here for big game.thought id put a little more challenge into getting closer to big game.rather than using my rifle.
has there been any failures on shoulder shots with foster slugs.is meat damage excessive with slugs.
my max range is 50yds with bead site.thanks

foster type slugs are made of soft lead. You can expect them to expand to 1'' or more in almost any animal they hit.  I am speaking from experience ,not something I read.

 I had saved a couple but they are now being used at my clubs hunter safety course to show new hunters how much damage they are capable of doing... On broad side ,or neck shots I most always get pass thru's  and the slugs are lost.

Do they flatten or pancake? I ask this because I recovered one at our local range and this was how it looked.
