Thanks,

There is a small group of members, myself included, who own the ATR.  Of those who do, I do not recall anyone not liking them.

The consensus is that they shoot very well.  They are inexpensively made with cost cutting features such as a molded trigger guard and sling swivel mounts.  I do not believe Mossberg cut corners with the metal work, other than the finish.  The barrels have been reported to be made by Shaw and have a target crown.  The "ugly goiter" on the rear of the bolt is there to prevent improper assembly of the bolt should someone disassemble it. The metal finish is matte.  The wood version also has a matte finish on the metal, but the wood is finished well and has decent checkering.

No one has reported owning the new 4X4, yet.
