Don't know what is good, but I had bad luck with Remington in 45LC.  I had a bunch spliting on the second loading.  I was however in that part of the reloading manual that says for T/C and Ruger only.

Hornady also makes good 45 Colt brass and I cannot tell which is better between Hornady and Starline as far as longevity is concerned. Good luck.
Cheers!

I found 18 once-fired Starline .45 Colt cases at a range, and got 17 reloads out of it.  I still have 13 of them, and I loaded them for Max loads for my Ruger Blackhawk.

I figure at that rate the 300 new cases I just bought ought to be good for around 5,000 rounds, minimum.

I'll have to cast a vote for Hornady

I've got some Hornady .45LC brass on it's 4th and/or 5th loading using data from the "Ruger, T/C, Freedom Arms Only" section and it's not showing any more wear than the brass I've been using for the standard loads.

It may not be the best, but it is very good.

Starline is my first choice.  Good quality stuff.   The winchester have held up well.  I don't think the Remingtron are not recommendeed for upper power loads.

The above info is all good. I use both Winchester and Starline brass in my Cowboy Action Shooting. If I were to buy loaded ammo with the intent to reload, I would get the Winchester. If I were buying just brass,I would go with the Starline. There are a couple of custom ammo makers that use Star Line. I am not sure, but I think Hornady Custom ammo uses Starline brass.

For what's it's worth, I did a shoot to destruction test on Win Brass a few years ago.  Started with 50 pieces, loaded them hot two times and shot them with plinking loads thereafter.  After 50 reloadds, I had 25 pieces left.  The only type of failure I had was neck splitting.  If I didn't bell my case so much for my cast loads, I probably would have had many more left.

There's a new one called Top Brass. It's the toughest I've ever tried. I work at a gun shop where one of the other guys gave me some to test. I don't know if you can buy Top Brass yet but when it becomes available, it will be the stuff to get for hot loads.

The major ammo makers make their own brass. I believe that includes Hornady since many of the rounds they load for Starline doesn't make. But I think Starline probably makes pretty much all the handgun cases for the smaller brand names.

Like the others mentioned when I get cases I get Starline if they make it. Otherwise I've been satisfied with the brass from all the major ammo makers except PMC. I don't even bother with it anymore. It is trash material when I see it.

I'm still loading on 200 RP .45 Colt cases I've had for 10 years or more. Dunno how many loads they've had but I don't recall losing one of them yet.
