Pyrodex can be used. How much? Fill the case. You don't want ANY airspace. I use the lee dippers for my BP loads and with GOEX ffg I use the 2.2cc dipper. The chart they give you says thats 34.9 grains or someting like that. That is behind a 250 gr. bullet cast in the PRS profile from Lee. I am getting the rust colored fouling (from the sulfur in the powder) which I am told means compression is just about right. I am geussing it is compressed 1/4" or so. I have never used pyrodex, so I am not sure how much compression it likes. I am sure some of the guys around here would know though. I did try 777 once, but it kicked so much I thought I might be damaging my pistols! And it is quite expensive. Easier to get at the local gun shop, but much more costly in the long run. For me Black powder is cheaper, I order it a case at a time from powder inc. Have fun with the "Holy Black!"

Yep, works great if you use SOFT bullets and BP specific lube. If you can, deprime your cases at the range and drop them in a bucket of water with Dawn added. When I get home I tumble them in stainless steel shot, water, and more detergent. Then dry them and they're good to go. A wonder wad or soft gascheck under the bullet helps, as does magnum primers. Shoots as good as anything I've tried using smokeless!
