Stevens 200 kickpad.....
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:18:04 PM »
Is there a savage model with a synthetic stock in which the kickpads will interchange with the 200?

I would like to upgrade the one on my 200 but haven't found stevens listed in the major brands of replacement pads.

If not, any ideas?          Thanks.

I'm told that they are the same as the Savage model 110. When i was painting my 200 last weekend.Model 110 is molded into the gunstock under the barrel (free floating ).To remove the stock ,take the screw out that holds the forearm to the barrel and then remove the screw from the top of the trigger guard ( the one closest to the forearm ).The action will come right out.Don't forget the longer of the two screws goes into the trigger guard ,shorter goes in the forearm.

I put a Limbsaver on my Stevens 200. What a difference. I can go to the range and shoot 30 rounds out of it and not suffer like when it had that factory "brick" thing on it.

Go to the limbsaver web site. Print out the "templates" and get the one that fits your stock the closest. Then call Limbsaver and they will send you a shim that is "carvable" and will let you contour the pad to your stock. The shim is free....they will mail it to you.

blucollar... there is a Stock WITH Linbsaver in the classifieds for sale... Might be cheaper.

Dave  ;D How much dif do you think the pad would have on a light recoiling gun for follow through / Seeing your shot etc. I have thought about trying one on a .223 or .243 to see if it would absorb enough to make a dif.

Ace,

I have the ProHunter with the FlexTech stock in .243 caliber. The flextech stock has the limbsaver pad built in to the stock. I still can't "watch the shot impact"....even when I shoot 70 grain bullets. I know the forarm on the prohunter is the plastic lightweight one, so maybe a heavier one would help....but then, my Contender rifle in .223 has a long wood forarm and wood stock. With the .223 it's a sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't.

So...to answer your question, if the only purpose was to help "see the shot", I don't think I'd make the investment.

Ace,  I can't seem to find the classified add you were talking about.  Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks, Blu
