restocking a Ruger 9617 or the 9622 magnum
« on: August 04, 2007, 02:46:46 PM »
Hi:

Has anyone tried to restock a Ruger 96/17 or the 96/22 Magnum rimfire rifle?  Just a plain Birch stock on the rifle and was wondering if anyone makes a better stock for it. Would it be easy to do?

i did not restock mine but i removed the barrel band and slimmed down the stock all the way back to the receiver. i stained it a light color, i got a beautiful maple look to it...a lot of people have commented on how good it looks...took a couple hours to make it look 100 percent better. it also shoots better without the band.

Coyote Trapper - if you are looking to possibly re-stock, check our sponsors list, it carries at least one stock maker.  HTH.  Mikey.

I ran across this guy on rimfirecentral. There were some pics there, of M96 stocks he made for some posters there, and they were great!
