Need P38 experts...

My boss brought in a P38 for me to research for him that his father brought back from WWII....

It is in very gd condition (around 75% bluing) Excellent reddish brown grips...
Excellent bore...

All number matching (8408d)
Has Nazi Waffenampts on slide/frame/hammer with "359" under them...
Left side of slide has "AC41" with the 41 below the AC:



The mag is missing...
Black holster (original...not repro)about 85% condition With cleaning rod inside and mag pocket on the outside...

Back of holster has "gcx 1942" And big lettered "P38" also a small number that looks like "A930"

He would like to know the value...anyone help out there?

AC41 should mean made by Walther in 1941.  The brownish grips came later, I believe and could be replacements.  Should be a good shooter.  HTH.  Mikey.

Grip panels are original and the piece is of the third variation of production during the war. The serial numbers overlap with the second and third variation. the AC prefix was assigned to Walther by the Herereswaffenamt (army weapons office). The date first appeared in 1940 and your's is a 1941. An "AC" without a date (ac no date) is quite collectable. Your gun is the most common of the war time P-38's and I would grab the $600 and run cheering. $400 is more realistic.
