new here... with a ?.
« on: July 29, 2007, 02:45:22 PM »
First i would like to say hi to everybody at GBO.This is my first post but have been reading for a year or so and have learned a lot from all you guys. I have two handi rifles a .223 superlite and a 22-250 wood stock. The .223 was bought new and the 22-250 was bought used.  Both have serial numbers starting NU which is 2004 if i am correct. the superlite has a ejector and the 22-250 has a extractor. The ? is did H&R put extractors on the 2004 model or is this a add on barrel on the 22-250. .

Welcome aboard!!!! I still can't figure out why people read this forum for as much as years and just don't sign up. :o This is really a great place to meet people that have something in common with you. If your barrel is an extractor then it would be an add on because they they just started that this year. Again welcome and you have just entered a brotherhood.        Dale

It is a great sight if you need info just do a search and you got your answer.Thats what i thought about the 22-250.There is nothing wrong with either one of them both shoot great.I just thought i would ask somebody who knew for sure.So i got a new barrel on a older frame.

Welcome to GBO!

If I recall, Tim "quickdtoo" has a few rifles he bought in 2004 that came with extractors.

I could be wrong...it happens once in a while.

Bill

EDIT:  I think one of the rifles was a .22-250 fluted Ultra

Welcome aboard, MO Breakup!! Bill would be right, H&R started offering extractors on newly released chamberings in 2004, the first was the 204 Ruger I believe, which I bought it in October 2004, also have a fluted 22-250 as Bill recollected, it's also an extractor made in 2005, the first year it was available, they're both gen one extractors, you can see the difference in the FAQs, if you have a gen two style extractor, it's likely a later accessory barrel fitted to the older frame.  ;)

Sorry Dale, this time is my turn to be right!! ;D

That's ok Tim I am used to it by now. I really thought that they just started turning out extractors this year though.        Dale
