Anybody run into loose primer pockets with Winchester brass? New brass primer pockets are quite loose. When pressed in new brass, pockets were loose. Shot one lot and threw away brass since I could just about press primers in by hand. This is with 2 gr under max load, no pressure signs period. I tried primers in different brass (Remington) and they were fine so its not the primers. Just curious. About to send back to Winchester.

Any Winchester brass I have used the primers seem to go in way easier than other brands. Almost to easy in my opinion, even though their is no reason for them to fit too tight. Other than my 375 Win which leaves me no choice, I choose not to use Win Brass. This is of course just personal opinion.

I have been useing winchester brass for awhile now and haven't ran into this problem yet, but I will surely be paying more attention next time I primer some. Thanks for bringing this to everyones attention. :agree: :sniper:

Great! I just bought 2 bags of Win. brass in the last month. Although with the ones I have for 7M-08 everything seems just fine. I would think that Win. would have an answer for this up to and including replacement.

Most of the new brass I've gotten from them (in the cute plastic bags) has been pretty nice. But I bought a bunch of mil contract stuff a while back that was beyond horrible. Way too soft, you didn't want to reload it even once. That was only good for recycling.

I use Winchester brass almost excusively with Winchester and CCI primers. The only loose primer I have ever had was after a detonation incedent that ruined the case. I have loaded brass more than twenty times and not had problems with pockets getting loose. I have had cases split at the neck and "J" splits in the body and the primer pockets never got loose. Don't know what could be the problem unless your loose pockets are the ONLY sign of over-pressure that you are getting or using a primer that is on the "small" size of standards.

I've never used anything but Win brass and I've never had a problem. Some of my 308 cases have been loaded 7+ times and they're fine. I also use CCI primers exclusively - no problems. I like Winchester brass most just because it's the easiest for me to obtain at the local gun store.

...I use Federal brass almost exclusively, however, my .45-70 brass, and some of my .30-30 brass is Winchester. The primer pockets on all of my .45-70 brass is somewhat looser than that of the Federal and other brands, but not to the degree that you mention, and certainly not to the degree that I would not use it... It's just enough to notice
