This weekend I am going to go through Calendar pictures. I may send you an email asking you to fix some things in your pictures to make them better.
One of problems with some of the pictures is backgrounds, particularly the indoor pictures.
Here's some examples of what I am talking about.
First cluttered background. Pictures of Zulu Kings , book on South Afrcian culture and a row of cast bullets for the Martini Henry have nothing to do with cannons. Books on Cannons, old sailing ships and cannon balls might work. But crop the picture to get rid of the shelf edge

Two tone backgrounds don't work, they make lines especially right through part of the gun. We want to see the gun, lines draw your eye away fom the cannon and look ugly. This is a problem when taking pictures on desk tops. Make sure you have contrast between your gun and the back ground.

A simple background can be made from a solid color blanket or even and old sheet. I have green felt and red suede that I bought just for picture taking. Here's how I set up a background for this post.

When you do set up a back ground cloth, pay attention, does it have wrinkle in it--iron the wrinkles out.

Or, just use your software and crop the wrinkle out.

Just pay attention to the small details and you will have a better pictures.
