They aren't the prettiest gun on the shelf, but they are very good shooters and are known to be very accurate rifles.  I own one (savage 111) and while I thought I would use it as a foul weather rifle after seeing the accuracy this rifle produces I ordered a better stock to dress it up a bit.....seems I got a date for the dance. ;)

Here's a some pics of my Stevens 200 camo'd, and a couple of targets from a range trip. Just click on the pics to enlarge and scroll thru them. Needless to say, I'm very happy with mine.

Hey that camo looks good! Is it hard to do?
Also I've thought about a .223 but never owned one, are they pretty much varmint only?
Would there be a better caliber in the 200 for both varmint, coyote  and deer?

Actually the camo looks better than the pics show. Real easy to do. The stock needs some filing and sanding of the rough spots and mold marks first. Even if I wasn't going to paint it, I'd do the sanding and filing.

If I were looking for a combo varmint/deer caliber, I'd go with a 243 or a 25-06. Both are available in the Stevens 200. The 223 is legal for deer in some states, but not MN. I'm not sure I would use one even if it was legal, but they certainly do work.

blucollar, check out the Savage Rifles and Shotguns forum on down the list here at GBO and you'll find even more topics on the Stevens 200

I have a question about the 200 also, it looks like it is just a savage with different wood and no accutriger. Now my question is would the barrels ment for the savage work on the stevens?

yes, the barrels will fit. the 200 is the same as the savage 110 in every way except that the 200 does not have the accutrigger.
