Rem' Model 700 Classic in .30-06 with 22" barrel
« on: July 07, 2007, 12:37:53 PM »
hello,

who, if anyone, can tell me what year would they have made the subject firearm with a serial number in the range of B6689XXX?    we found one today at a show in cuyahoga county, outside cleveland, ohio that was in mint condition.    you won't believe what it was going for!

can anybody tell us when this rifle was built and what would be the information source?

thank you,

ss'

Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

They were made for 5-6 years in several calibers before they went to one caliber per year.  I know because I once owned the exact gun 30 years ago.  Still have the receiver on a 280AI now.

Zach'

first off, it's a 1985 mfg' date with a barrel maybe 2 yrs' old at that time, per the link given us by Val.  so i'm thanking him.    the rifle had 'mint' wood and metalwork with a base and a set of rings that look to be from Leupold, with a Tasco scope (that was probably the weak link in the deal).   the man had a sign on it asking for $400.   my buddy offered him $350 and walked out of the Fairgrounds with the whole shebang for that offer!   (no arguement!!!)   i called my buddy a "thief"; but he had six (6) offers to look at it and possibly buy it before we left the place!   i don't think he even heard me....

what a blessing :o :o :o       my 2001 Gun Traders (?) guide showed it might have gone for approx' $440 in 'mint/new' condition at that time, with just the rifle being the deal.    at Gander Mountain up here in n.e. Ohio they have one in stock that they want to sell at $650.

it's tough to beat a good gunshow, aint it?
