25-06 75gr v-max

I will be trading my ol man a slug gun for his ultra 25-06 when he comes back to PA from Iowa this christmas, Pretty much all my rifles get turned into groundhog killers regardless of bore size. I plan on loading up some cookin 75 grain v-max loads at somewhere in the 3500-3800 fps range. Have any of you had any experiece the the v-max in your 25-06 and what powder worked the best.

i have a ,25-06 in a ruger 77. it will shoot the 75 gr v-max bullets into an inch or less. i had to back my velocity down to under 3500 fps to get it to print tight groups. be prepared to do a lot of testing for it. 1/10 of a grain with this bullet can make a BIG difference in group size. i finally settled on 57.5 gr of hodgdon H4831, winchester brass, cci 200 primers with a 3.185 oal. good lock with hte rifle when you get it.

I had an encore in 25-06 and it shot the 75 grain Vmax into about 1.5"groups with H4831 SC.  I didn't do alot of testing different powder weights, this was with my first load and I figured that would kill a coyote or groundhog so I quit at that and then sold the encore.

Hildy has done extensive work with the 75gr Vmax in his 25-06.
