Howa Factory Trigger vs. Timney
« on: June 14, 2007, 01:18:12 AM »
Is a Timney trigger a worthwhile investment($85 @ MidwayUSA) for my Mossberg/Howa 1500 or could I achieve most of the improvement possible with the Timney by simply adjusting the screws on the factory trigger?

the factory triggers are pretty bad in these. i couldn't get mine to adjust much, and it was gritty and heavy. i would go with the timney in this case.

I have one that cleaned up nice and adjusted to a crisp 2.8#s. On another, I wasn't able to do much so I got the Timney. Try spraying it with brake cleaner and adjustig, you might get lucky. ;)

Take your factory trigger to a (good) gunsmith he will be able to adjust the factory trigger better than you can adjust the timney. The factory trigger wont go down below about 3.5# without loosing the ability of the safety, but a good smith can fix that it will be cheaper than the Timney. It cost me $45.
