452 Varmint problems
« on: June 07, 2007, 11:23:20 PM »
My cousin just bought a 452 varmint in 22 magnum and is quite unhappy with the trigger,so am I. It has a mile of creep before it lets off at it's 3 pound trigger pull weight. We haven't looked to the adjustments yet but my understanding is that we won't be able to do anything with the creep,is that correct? Also, there seeps to be an extraction and ejection problem as well. Some times at the bench the rifle will throw the case clear of the port but often times it just clears the chamber and lays on top of the magazine. Does he have a lemon or what can be done about these issues? I will say this for it though,it is a very good shooter and prints tiny little groups.I hope these are minor problems to deal with.

Look up a guy named Eric Brooks.  His website is cz452.com I think.  He makes a kit for about $15 that will fix both the creep and pull weight.

I don't know about the extraction, other than try soaking the bolt overnight in solvent and blowing it out with compressed air.  They are usually very reliable so it's not likely anything serious.

Lucky.

I appriciate the come back Lucky Guy. I will get a hold of my cousin to let him know and check Mr. Brooks out. Thankyou. BTW, we are getting some pretty nice groups at a hundred yards with it. We are still trying to find the best brand and weight of bullets to achieve the best groups, but so far,the 34 grainers are printing 1-1/4 " at a hundred yards.I think that is great though. I'd be amazed if the groups got any smaller then that.I never shot a 22 mag till my cousin got that CZ.I might have to get one myself. We must be getting used to the rifle cause we didn't have those ejection problems the last time out.We are more forceful with the bolt.I think we are just used to ejecting our other rifles so that we can catch the cases for reloading.I even caught myself tring to stick the little 22 mag case back into the box. It's tought getting old.
