New Contender Barrell

I would like a new barrel for my contender carbine.  Thinking about a    30-30AI or a 300 Whisper. I really like the 300 Whisper but i feel it may be a little light for my deer hunting.  the 30-30AI seems to have a little more power.  Does anyone have any experiences with these two cartridges.  The barrell will probley be a Fox Ridge full bull 21" long.

An awesome round, plus you ccan shoot regular stuff if you run out of handloads, or forget them  . I had an old Marlin cut and was approaching 300 savage velocities. Of course in the contender you can use pointed bullets.

I haven't shot either in a carbine, but Ed has a couple carbine 300 Whispers from the custom shop.

I've got a 30-30 factory 21 inch barrel that wouldn't group well at all, sent it it out for rechamber to 30-40 Krag and a crown job and now it's a tack driver.  30-30 AI is good, but maybe Krag is better...the Krag cleans up the factory throat and lead, you are stuck with the factory throat with the AI
