Encore Laminated Stock
« on: May 26, 2003, 08:57:19 AM »
I think I want a laminated wood stock and fore end for my new encore I just ordered.  What is the new, unused composite stock and fore end worth if I take them off and sell them.  Also, what is the best value in the laminated wood stock and fore end set.  Finally, is this a good move.  I am not too familiar with the laminated wood.  Both of my bolt guns wear McMillan synthetic.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Encore Laminated Stock

I did the exact same thing you are thinking of doing.  I bought a Stainless Steel Encore with the black snythetic stocks.  I sold them both on eBay - stock @ $45 and forend @ $20.  I then purchased a set of laminated stocks from E. Arthur Brown (eabco.com) - they are Boyd Stocks which come highly reccomended.  I got the pepper (gray) stocks which look perfect with the stainless steel.  I think the stock was $80 and the forends were about $40 - got one each for the standard taper 24" barrel and muzzleloader barrel.

I'm totally happy with my setup right now.  The laminated stocks are heavier than the synthetic, and with the Maxima rings and bases I have the gun is as heavy as I want to go.  Good luck!
