I think I want one of these. Should be an easy conversion.  22 hornet or one of the 22 rim fire barrels
 should be a good donor. Anybody have any opinions?

You would probably want to start with a 22 mag barrel for a little faster twist, but it should work.  Larry

I was going that way before i ended up with the 218 Bee , i liked the idea of the rimmed case in the H&R but ran into all kinds of problems forming the brass , it will take at least 3 steps to take the 357 Max case down to 224 , you can not just use a 222 die and form the 224 R-C cases .

And a set of form dies will run about $200 from Hornady .

Stimpy, I have already priced Redding form dies. $231.30 for 2 sizing dies, a case trim die, and the extended shell holder.  Then I have to buy the reloading dies! 

I already have case form dies for the .224 Stark, but I had wanted to use a 22wmr bull barrel as the donor, and I don't think the Stark will clean up the chamber.

Maybe a 22/30-30, or a 222 Rimmed would be a better choice.  Like you, I want my cartridges to have rims on them. 

I have new place to hunt ground hogs and the 22 Hornet just does not have the range.  And please don't be like my wife and tell me to "just walk closer"!!

I can buy the 222 rimmed cases from Bertrams, but at a dollar a pop, I can probably justify the cost of forming dies!

I guess that if I had this RC I would want to use moon pies for my 400 yard targets!
