Scope mounting on Stevens 200 30-06
« on: May 31, 2007, 05:24:36 PM »
I just purchased a Stevens 200 30-06 and now I need to get a scope mounted. Already have a scope,  Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 but I still need bases and rings.  My thoughts are to use a Burris Xteme Tactical 2 Piece Base  and Burris Signature Zee rings (medium).  Being new to this sort of thing  I am open to suggestions or comments on these choices.

I have a savage 30-06 and a stevens 25-06.  Both long actions.  Better check your scope mounting area length.  With 2 piece bases, I had to get the extended front base set because the length between regular bases made the rings interfere with the scope as it widened to its objective lens.  I think I used either Burris or Leuopld bases and Burris Signature rings, with the plastic inserts.  Had very good luck with no scope slippage with these rings.  Good luck

Thanks for the reply.  I am hoping that the Xtreme bases will work since they have multiple slots cut in them so I can choose multiple mounting patterns.  They have not been easy to get,  so far I have tried several places and all were backordered.  Matte Signature Zee rings are not easy to come by either.  I finally did get them ordered,  will let you know how it works out.  Am really looking forward to shooting the Stevens.

If any part of the base sets over the opening in the action, make sure it doesn't interfere with the ejection of fired and unfired rounds being ejected.  Luepold makes a one piece base for the '06 or any long action, and with some scopes you can use straight rings, others require an extension ring.

Fixed powder scopes usually have more room between the bells.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
