Just bought a S&W 396 Mountain Lite 44 special with 3"barrel. Looking for a holster to fit for concealed carry and field use. Would prefer a pancake style. No holster manufacturers list this gun. I was thinking some other S&W models might be a similar fit. This is my first S&W so I do not know that much about other models. Thought maybe some of the knowledgeable people on the forum might have some ideas. Thanks, Ken

It's an L-frame gun so any 4" L-frame gun holster will work OK. Models 586 and 686 are the most commonly seen examples.

Thanks Graybeard, Seems most of holsters to fit this model are all 4". Not wanting an extra 1" of leather hanging down I decided to go with a Bianchi 5 black widow, hope i made a good choice. Got a great deal at Opticsplanet Too!. Thanks Again, Ken

usually pretty easy to have a leathersmith trim an inch off a holster
