Original Colt 1911
« on: May 24, 2007, 12:07:49 PM »
Just wondering if anyone had an idea of the value of my 1911.  The serial # is 352600, it has been nickel plated with gold accents.  The plating and gold are worn and peeled in places, however the pistol is sound mechanically.  It has a slight amount of slack in the slide.  The latest readable date on the slide says 1913, and the right side is stamped with "???EL OF1911 US ARMY"  Probably Model with the first part of the word worn off.

Thanks

Revbc,

Because the current condition and the fact that it has been plated the pistol has lost all of its collector's value.  You still have yourself a good shooter.  I suspect the value to be in the $300 - $400 range.  If I had it I would probably have the nickle stripped off an have it reblued.  That would not ad much value, but would make it easier to look at.

good luck

I'd agree.
If it were mine I'd send it off to be stripped, buffed, and blued...then find a correct set of grips. Shoot it and enjoy it!

By any chance did you buy it from LEVER Arms in Vancouver?
