I just found a Winchester mod 70 featherweight in .270win for $600 out the door. Are these good guns?

About as good as you will ever find. The model 70 is the finest bolt action hunting rifle ever made.

The ones made in the middle 60s lacked the appropriate fit and finish, but even they were sound rifles. If it has the Mauser type extractor, I'd say you got a good deal.  ;)

It may or may not be a good rifle, but resale should not be a problem if it doesn't shoot up to your standards. That is a very popular model.
