4-28-07 Split Rock River. Not mine but the guy that caught it was gracious enough to let me hold it for the pic.
It was our 1st time for Steelhead and we own a cabin only 1.5 miles away from the location I'm standing in
Anyway a guy who knew what he was doing wandered by and said, "Hey one in laying right in midstream." Sure enough it is right in midstream in fast water in about 18" of water.
My poor neice had been dragging a crawler past its nose for 3 hours. My buddy trys a spawn sack a dozen times and nothing. The guy asks if he can try and uses a yellow yarn fly which it hits after about a dozen trys. He loses it in about 4 seconds. The fish goes right back to the same spot and this time 2 mins later he goes for it again and gets the net.
It was his 4th fish of the day and only keeper he said.
We did witness a twin get caught 100 yards farther up and 2 other guys said they had caught fish but we did not see it.
The second pic is at the mouth of the Beaver. The guy said it was the 1st fish he had caught all weekend.

The last two pic's are of the Gooseberry and just for giggles.

I learned a lot. I'll be back next year with proper gear.
