So I decided to order the Savage Long Range Precision Varminter (LRPV) in .223 with the 1 in 9" twist. This is going to be the very first Savage that I will ever own.
This particular Savage has a unique action as it relates to size. From what I understand, it is the largest action (in terms of size and weight) of all the Savage short actions. In addition, the gun also has a 1" bull barrel with NO taper.
The intended scope will have a 42mm AO objective. Normally, such a scope on a regular sporter barrel would require medium rings, but since it has a big barrel with no taper, I would guess that it would require high rings.
I am thinking about getting the Warne Fixed rings and bases.
For those of you with the LRPV, what do you have and/or reccommend?
