2 piece brass rivets

[DLH]

  Seve[wiki=]ral years ago I made a mountain man knife sheath, compleat with  2 peice brass rivets, a male and female halves, if you will.
 
 I can't find any where to buy them , Tandy has Cones? and dots? but the dots look to be about 3/4" . I was hoping for 1/4".

  Any ideas where I might find them?  and what are they called?

Double Cap Jiffy Rivets... try Zack White Leather.

They come in a couple diameters and different lengths. They also come in brass or nickle finish. Prices are per 100.

Best way to set them is witha small ball pein hammer. I have one that I use specifically for setting them. The head is polished and doesn't leave any dents or marks in the rivets. I use a polished steel block to back up the other side of the rivet.

Wish I'd known about Z. White before I finished the sheath for my son's Christmas present.  I could have used those rivets. Will definitely  shop them with them in the future.  The local Tandy store owner is literally NO help.

Tandy is like the home depot of leatherworking... 

They have stuff that can work... at relativively low prices...  but if you want to be lucky enoguh to find the guy to help you out with that stuff.. you better look harder.

i've found that usind a small c-lamp with both tips being smooth is a good way to put the 2-piecr rivets together and they look better too

I buy them at my local True Value hardware.  He has them in a supply catalog and orders them.  Box of 100, cost about 10cents each.

I set them with a small arbor press.  Werkes gud.
