Tell me about your Titanium 41 mag???
« on: April 13, 2007, 11:46:18 AM »
I have found a new Taurus Tracker Titanium 41 magnum.  I may try to do some trading for it. I LOVE the way this gun feels and points. It has the 6" ported  barrel and rubber grips. They want about $550 for it and I am having a hard time deciding to buy it when I know where there is a nice 8 3/8" S&W 629 for sale for $599.... But, I do love the way this Taurus feels. I was wondering if any of you can tell me about their reliability and accuracy? How about recoil in such a light gun??? Any input will be greatly appreciated....

I had one in a 4" bbl configuration.  I paid $537 new a while back.  It was accurate out the box.  It was tuff in the recoil department but if you reload, that can be helped.  One of the hot reloads I made, I ended with blisters in my hands and I had to buy a new grip.  The ribbed grips peeled off on the back side (rubbing hard against my hand shooting the hot load).  The revolver was as tight as new when I traded in, considering the 2000+ rounds through it.  I wish I didn't but I am also very happy with the S&W629, 4" bbl in 44 mag that got for the trade.  I don't discard the idea of getting another one money willing.  One thing I did not like from that revolver was the ports.

I went and looked at the 41 Titanium today. It is $599 + tax and the dealer has had it for about a year and a half. I really love the gun but I just can't make myself pay that much for a Taurus. Especially when the dealer had a like new S&W 629 sitting there for the same price. I was not aware about all the quality problems with Taurus until I started reading through this forum.
