What's you're preferred paint for camouflage?
« on: April 11, 2007, 02:10:06 PM »
I'm considering painting my T3 Light SS stock in woodland camouflage. What is the best camo spray paint for the T3 synthetic stock and what are you're tips on stock prep, paint, and finish for a durable, good paint job? The three tones I'm wanting to use are flat tan, flat olive green, and flat brown. Maybe only the brown and tan, I did a job on a previous rifle of mine years ago and it turned out to be very effective in the underbrush and areas I hunt. I do not know whether or not I will paint the action, barrel and scope yet, I'll likely use duracoat paint especially for the stainless steel rifle and aluminum scope tube. or Should I just wait to do the whole thing at once? Please post me you're camo-job pics and any pointers you have.

Oh, I currently have two cans of Rust-Oleum Camouflage ultra-flat green and tan a buddy gave me. Anyone know if it would stick well to synthetic T3 stock with or without roughing it up? Would it last? I'm weighing heavily on cost of paint as well as easy to find in local retail stores like Wal-Mart, or farm stores, etc...

If this comes out,I do mine with Fleckstone first for the texture and then do my camo with Kaylon.

I've never heard of Flekstone, where do you get it?

Wall Mart,it's made by Plasticote and comes in like 4 different colors and has the feel of granite. Just be sure with anything you use get you a good primer and sand the stock really well. The primer I use is the same thing the body shops use on plastic parts of bumpers, good strong and it flex's. Good luck
