Ruger Security Six 4" Stainless .357

I saw one of these at my local gun store today for $325.  Serial number started with 161.  It was in very good condition and I was thinking about trading in my Sig 2009 9mm in for it.  I might be able to get about $325 for my Sig and make it an even trade.  I mainly would use the gun for target shooting which is what I use my Sig for now.  I just bought a hunting camp in Northern PA and I wanted something larger than a 9mm to have at camp.  I was wondering if $325 was a reasonable price for the security six and if others thought this trade was a good idea.

This is strictly my opinion.  I think if the revolver is in 98% condition it is worth the money they are asking for it.  Sometimes the price of used guns can be haggled over and be bought for less than asking price but that really depends how long it has been in their stock and how stubborn the dealer is.  As far as trading your Sig straight  across for it, that would probably be an even trade to the dealer but you could probably do better selling the Sig outright and paying a cash deal on the Ruger.  If the Sig is 98% or better condition it is probably worth $425-$450, but in reality is worth what the fair marker will bear.  Sometimes selling a firearm can be a hassle unless you are a licensed dealer, I know your not and neither am I.  Only you know how you think on this, so do what you can live with and then don't look back.  Good luck

Personally, I would give about 60-70% of what I could get a new GP-100 for. Unless there is some special circumstance, that is how I calculate the value of a used gun.I  just saw a GP-100 at my dealer's for 499, 60% of that is 300, 70% is 350, so your right there for a clean, 98% gun.
