My homemade Tikka T3 hat, pics fixed.
« on: April 07, 2007, 05:18:29 PM »
I got a good blaze orange hat with a dark brown brim, velcro adjustment all weatherproofed, and cut off the origional decal on the front. Then took my Tikka T3 patch that came with my rifle and used some heavy duty fabric do-all craft glue and attached it appropriately to the front of the hat. Take a look:

No the pic aint backwards, I'm just left-handed.

Thanks. If anyone else is planning on this though, I learned from my mistake, be sure to give the glue 24 hrs to fully cure in a warm dry area before wearing. I put my hat over a large coffee can and tied a bandanna around it with the patch and material under and around it flat very tight for that duration. Also I made the mistake of just trying to glue it right on, rough up the back of the patch with heavy grit sand paper to ensure the glue grabs hold really well, wash the hat with a mild detergent, and degrease the back of the patch with alcohol. Just my trial and error tips.

Nice Hat!  Tikka may get some ideas if they saw that!  Would be nice to get one of those in the box with the rifle.

What cal  is your T3?

30-06sprg (left-hand rifle by the way).

I later went to a local sewing shop and had them sew it on, the glue doesn't hold well even if you use rough sand paper and rough up to back. It's as permanent as the orange color on the hat now!
