I am getting ready to build a varmint rig for a PD trip. I have always used Vixen L461 actions exclusively. Loved them and never looked any further. I have been searching the Sako sight for the latest and greatest and now.... I need a little guidance. I can get a Vixen for about 750 that needs work. I plan on rebarreling it with a Krieger 26 fluted stainless medium varmint weight barrel. I was going to order an exhibtion grade walnut stock duplicated to a McMillan A2 tactical stock. Fortunately, cost is not much of a concern for this project. It will hold to BR standards when its finished. I like the looks for the Tikka as it seems to have a very stout bridge with minimal amounts of metal removed from the action, but the "plastic" components just don't settle well with me. But if it is the strongest action i will just re-manufacture the plastic parts in steel. I hear good and bad on the model 75. The cost is not that bad for the Model 75 varmint rig with a complete stainless fluted barrel already. Is the vixen still the baby of the family with the smallest footprint and slick cycling.
thanks in advance
