has this ever happened to you?
« on: March 26, 2007, 03:02:03 PM »
I have been shooting a ten point Phantom for about a month and 1/2 now and in that time frame I have had 5 arrows with the field points where pushed into the shafts splitting them and flaring them out at the point. 2 arrows hit a back stop of rubber and plywood  and bounced back (OK I can see this but). the other 3 all hit a morrell crossbow field point bag target (only a few weeks old).
4 of the 5 where easton fall stalkers but today #5 was a easton crossbow hunter this one hit nothing but the bag target and get this at 50 yards and it looks just like the fall stalkers.

so is anyone else having this problem?

I don't know if the Phantom is pushing the arrows to fast and hard, the bag target is too hard, or the field points need to be changed from a bullet style too a  longer tapered point

The only time I ever had that problem was if I hit something hard. Maybe a tapered point would be better. At the price of arrows might be better to change to a layered foam target.  ;)
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Fall Stalkers are made with a very weak alloy. The Easton beginners shafts Jazz and Blues are much stronger than the FS.

To match my arrows to a bow I shoot them sans fletching. Until you get the length correct the shafts hit the target at an angle. My FS shafts would bend hitting the target butt at an angle.
