Had to happen sometime
« on: March 25, 2007, 09:20:59 AM »
For the first time in 25+ years of loading , had my first full case separation , and of course it was in a handi  ::) And this was only the 3rd loading for this case . The first 7 were fine , then this , well i am going to pull the rest and send the whole box to the scrap bucket , not worth having it happen again .

Both shooter and rifle are fine , it was my new to me 270 barrel , i have been using it to work up loads for groundhog , 90gr JHPs . the shot felt and sounded fine was just about 1" off from the others .

When i poped it open , what the XXXX is this , 1/2" of case came out the rest was still in the chamber , got it home and took a curved dental pick to the inside , 2nd try and it slid right out .

Its Tims fault he had this barrel first .  ;D  ;) He is getting even for the acc barrel joke !

That was originally Jeff223's barrel I bought from him in '04, it's been around for a while!! He sold me a bunch of brass with it, maybe I should check it closely in case there's a problem with the barrel!  ??? I only shot factory ammo in it, but it shot just fine, 1"-1½" with Rem factory 130gr. ;) ;) ;)

I don't see the barrel being the problem , i have had problems with Super X brass before , but not to this extent , was getting under 1" @100 with this load , i know the 270 is on the heavy side for Wissel-pigs but wanted something for those 500 plus shots .

You can sometimes use a bore brush to remove the remainder of the brass .   :-(

That is what I ended up doing when I had a case seperation with a CETME .  :-(

God bless
