Handi Stock Question
« on: March 20, 2007, 11:05:41 AM »
I have a stainless 22-250 with a bull barrel I was wondering how the wod stocks are attached as I am wanting to make one. With the synthetic stock it is hollowed out in the stock and seems to me that it would be nearly impossible to do this with a wood stock. Can you use a longer bolt?

Thanks

Honay,
The wood stocks are also attached to the rear of the receiver.  There is a hole in the buttstock through which you insert the tool.  It has been a long time ago, but I think the screw is a slotted head..at least mine was.  Just remove the butt plate on the stock and peer in with a flashlight.

Roudy is right. The synthetic stock and the wood stocks take the same bolt to attach to the frame. Take off the buttplate on the wood stock and you will see a hole all the way through.

Stock bolt info is in the FAQs, it takes a 9/16" or 14mm socket and a long extension to reach it, the bolt is a 3/8"x4" fine threaded  cap screw.

If I build my own stock would it be possible to use a piece of all thread rod and put the nut closer to the butpad so I don't have to remove as much wood?

sure, if you build it you can make the bolt as long as you want and the hole as short as you want....<><.... :)
