superlight scope?

I ordered a .243 superlight for my daughter and I was wonder what your scope recommendations would be? I want to keep the gun as light and compact as possible. I do not expect any shooting over 100yds, maybe 150. Use is for hunting deer, maybe a groundhog now and then. Any thoughts?

I do have a weaver 2-7x28mm that I was thinking of putting on it, but I am not sure...

I sould stick with somthing under 40mm if I had one.
For a new hunter at short ranges maybe 4x32 would be best.
Teach her to shoot then worry about scope settings.
Thinking ahead a 3-9x32 would have more power for long shots.
I personally would want a 6x36.

Any thoughts on the Leupold Rifleman Series? I noticed a 2-7x33mm at wally world for 180.00

I am in the same boat as you. I just got a superlight 243 and want to keep it as compact as I can. I have narrowed it down to two types of scopes a fixed 4x or a 3-9x32. I am leaning toward the 3-9x32 but I have a extra 4x already. Either one would work for my needs.I will have to let ya'll know when I decide.

Weaver scopes are good ones.The 2X7X28 should do great for the range you mentioned.

While the 2.5-7x28 RV7 Weaver is a nice little scope, it's a rimfire scope with a 50yd parallax setting, it wouldn't be my first choice for shots to 150yds. A fine choice at a budget price is the Simmons Prohunter. I have both scopes, the Prohunter is just as clear and bright, maybe even a bit better and you can't beat the price!! ;)

My thought was to reset the parallex to 100 yards on the weaver. It's not that hard. However, I do like the looks of the Simmons and for the price I may just give it a go.

Nikon makes a 2-7x32 shotgun scope that is priced right at The Optic Zone, but last time I tried to order one there was a long backorder. I may give them a call and see how long the wait is now.

I just picked up the superlight, which is my first Handi Rifle, but I can't believe how tall the hammer spur is. I might as well put a 40 or 50mm objective scope on the gun since I am going to have to raise the scope to clear the hammer spur. I think I could clear a 40mm AO just getting high enough to clear the spur.

Several here have modified the hammer a little. There is a couple methods in the FAQs on how to do this. Personally I take each of my receivers...carefully... to a grinding wheel and slowly take off the tip. There is a lot to work with and still be able to use the hammer spur. Works great for me and doesn't harm the receiver at all ;D

i got a leupold m8 compact 4x off ebay and it is a great scope for a light package
only 9 inches long and very light

Well I ordered a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40mm compact from the optic zone. I will mount it and post pics this weekend. This is my first Bushnell Elite but with all the positive reviews I have read I am excited about trying it out.
