Scope rail vs Ultra scope rail
« on: March 15, 2007, 01:27:03 AM »
I was looking at the http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.aspx  (H&R) web site and noticed under the barrel accessory program, that they have listed a "scope rail" for $13.95 and then a "ultra scope rail" for $16.95, but I can't seem to see a picture or find out what the difference between these two scope rails are.

So, I've come here to the experts to find out.

Websters definition of experts: if you did it once, and it worked.....you are now the expert. (Oh, sorry....that's the definition in my workplace). ;D

Ahhhhh......I see,,,,,$3 more for an X-tra scope slot. Well worth it if your sending away for another barrel anyway.

Thanks much.

Dave.

FWIW, the 22 mag ultra comes with the standard, 5-slot rail.  At least the one at the LGS does.

DEave

Not only does it have an extra slot it also has a screw & set screw that runs down th the barrel were it sticks out past the chamber to help support the rail with large or heavy scopes . and yes it is worth the $3.00 if you plan to use BIG optics .

Don't buy a Weaver.  My gun came from the factory with out a rail.  I called and they said they would send one right away.  I got impatient and bought a Weaver rail.  What a piece of junk.  You can't mount a scope  ::)

Weaver rails can be modified with a little work. But you can also get the H&R with hammer extension from TGS for less or the Leupold rail, with of which are the better choice. ;)
