Browning semi-auto rifle, does it have a recoil buffer?
« on: May 13, 2003, 04:45:16 PM »
I have been thinking of getting one in 30-06, they look nice, but as I really like to shoot, does it have a recoil buffer in the receiver to muffle the bolt's impact?  This would help the rifle to last along time, and soften the recoil in the receiver area as well.  :?

I have the Browning BPS pump in 12 gauge, and so far I like their products, nice fit and finish.

thanks

EXCELLENT CHOICE,I have seen these guns keep up in accuracy with most bolt guns!
Yes they do have a buffer system it is located under the forearm of the weapon, If possible pick-up the steel receiver opposed to the lightening B.A.R., good shooting.

Browning Bar

I have a Bar in 30-06 with boss.  I can recommend it. Incredible accuracy, light recoil due to:recoil pad, gas action, and boss. The only thing that stops you from shooting non stop is waiting for the barrel to cool. Never jams. Can't beat it

I've got an older Belgium BAR Grade II 30-06, and couldn't be happier.  It has yet to jam, even in freezing weather conditions.  As for recoil, it kicks a lot less than the Savage .30-06 bolt action that I once had.  And yes, it does have a recoil buffer, which includes a plastic buffer and two metal plates that sandwich the plastic buffer.  You've got to check this on the older guns, as some owners don't take them apart, nor do they realize that the buffer will deteriorate with time and fall apart.  Obviously mine does not have the boss system, but it will most definitely do 1" groups at 100yds with Remington 165 Nosler Ballistic Tips.  Also, mine has the steel receiver.  If you're looking for something to hold its value, buy one of the older Belgium BAR's, as they tend to hold higher resale value than the new guns do. 8)
The intruder turns around slowly, sees both barrels, and hears a low-deep voice say "Son, the left one's iron and the right one's steel, if the left one don't get you, the right one will"
