Question about .22 mag Ultra, bull barrel
« on: March 13, 2007, 01:50:09 AM »
Hey all,

Yesterday, I saw a .22 mag marked as H&R Ultra, with the laminate stock.  According to the '07 catalog, this rifle should have a bull barrel.  While this rifle was pretty heavy, I attributed that to the stock, and the barrel did not seem that "bull"ish, especially compared to the .223 bulls I've seen.  Am I comparing apples and oranges?

How can I be certain that a .22 mag barrel is the bull barrel?  Can I eyeball it by taper?  What is the barrel diameter at the muzzle on a .22 mag bull barrel?

Thanks.

Don

Bull barrels will measure about .800" at the muzzle, standard contour anywhere from .625" to .700".

Thanks, Quick, I'll bring my ruler along next visit, and see what they've got.

Is the $159 they're asking a typical price for this unit?

The 159 is a good price , as the standard sportsters are about 100 to 120 with tupperwear stocks .

The 22mag Ultra was $140 last year at Walmart, RR has it for $166, so $159 is a good price.'
