My VZ-24 257 Roberts
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:27:10 AM »
Well, my 257Roberts project is nearing completion.  I am going to order a Boyds Pepper laminate stock and do the finish work on it.  In the meantime, it's functional.
The action is a VZ-24 Mauser 98 with turned handle and Bueller safety and drilled & tapped.  Timney Featherweight trigger.  Barrel is an Adams & Bennett 257 F14 contour.  A gunsmith down here installed the barrel, squared the action, set the headspace and recessed the crown.  The finish I used on the barrel and action is Alumahyde II by Brownells.  It's not bad, but thinner than I would have preferred.  The stock is a Corelite synthetic.  I bed the action and floated the barrel.  I painted it with Rustoluem textured paint.  Redfield one-piece base and rings.  Leupold Vari-X II 3x9x40 scope.

Duckbill - that is one pretty fancy looking rifle.  I like the 'subdued' effect.  I hope that baby shoots as good as she looks.  Good job.  Mikey.
