Getting a Yugo m48 8mm mauser sporter. I love the 8mm (have 1 deer rifle and 3 8mm milsurps) but may want to make a barrel change. Rifle is d&t'd, boyds stock, timney trigger. May want to have this as a deer rifle for the kids when they grow up.
Here's the ideas in my head and I'm hoping for someone to chime in and help me out
Idea 1: Leave as is, have another 8mm, let the kids "grow into it"
Idea 2: Rebarrel to either .243, 7mm-08, 6.5x55, .25-06. Smaller caliber for the kids and I could use some of the choices if I ever want to varmint hunt.
Idea 3: Have a buddy of mine who handloads, make some "toned down" 8mm loads, maybe even 125gr? and use as a "Youth 8mm"
I want any project to be cost-effective. Again, I really like 8mm mauser and would be happy as is, but also just wondering

Thanks.
