Daiwa mini spincast system
« on: February 23, 2007, 09:08:35 AM »
Anybody every use this?  I have been looking for a packable ultralight reel and rod combo.  There seem to be two opitions one with a spinning reel and a 5ft 5 peice rod ( rated for up to 6 lbs test)and the other a spincast? reel (reel  looks like a spinning reel but has a nose cone on it) and a 4 1/2 ft 5 peice rod( rated for 4lbs test)  I have one ultra light rod and real combo which is ok but would like to upgrade the quality and have it be easy to travel with, if that is at all possible!

Yes they are very nice little outfits, we have several. Most of our tackle is UL as bream is our main quarry.

I've not used the mini spincast but my open faced mini spinning reel and rod have served me well since the late '70s.  I guess most use them on trout, panfish and such but I've had a lot of fun with the rig on smallmouth.  It is a blast landing 18 inch smallmouth these things!

Blessings!
