Model 83 22 long rifle

I received my Freedom Arms Model 83 and tomorrow I am going to a local range to give it a workout. Since the range is only 75 feet, I expact good results. Next report I will give you feedback. Rod in Pa.

I had my Model 83 at the range today. After sighting in the handgun, my last five shot group was a little bigger than a TACK.

I am truly impressed by this group. Stats: were, Freedom Arms Model 83  22 lr with a match cylinder, 7 1/2 inch bbl. with a Leupold 2X pistol scope.  ammo was ELEY Match EPS. I can't wait till I exchange the Leupold 2X for a 2 1/2 X 8 Leupold Scope.  Rod in Pa.

Very impressive group Rod.  Did you get a test target from the factory with it?  Did they tell you what ammo to try?

IRONAIR, Sorry I could't get back to you sooner. I work 12 hour shifts. Regarding your questions.. I did not get a test target. The model 83 I had built for me was a field grade. I don't think Freedom Arms has test targets for its field grade handguns. Your question concerning ammo. Let me first give a "plug" for JOHN,  an employee who works for Freedom Arms. This man is without question the nicest person I ever tallked with in the firearms business. In the six weeks that Freedom Arms built my Model 83 22 lr. handgun, I called John not less than six times. Each and every time I talked with him, he answered all of my questions (to my complete satisfaction) and took the time to explain each step of the manufacturing process. At no time did he rush my questions and I was at complete ease while talking with him. I did ask him about the best 22 long rifle for this fine handgun. He stated that they have very good results with LAPUA STANDARD CLUB  and that is what they use to test fire the Model 83  22 lr handguns. The Model 83 22lr that Freedom Arms built for me is without question the most accurate 22 lr handgun I have purchased. It is more accurate than the Smith Model 41 that I use to own. Yes, I guess I should have known it wouldn't come with a test target.  Being a model 83 rimfire, they only come in field grade.

You are not the first person to say that FA customer service is top notch, I am glad you are happy with your purchase.  If you feel like spending a little bit of time typing, I would love to hear what kinds of questions you had for FA as they were building your gun, and what John's answers were.

I have a model 41 with two barrels.  Open sighted 5 inch and a 7 inch with an Ultradot.  I also have a model 17 six inch with open sights.  Neither one will shoot tack sized groups at 25 yards, at least not with me pulling the trigger.  I have seriously considered getting rid of all the Rugers and Smiths in my safe and getting a Freedom Arms or two and be done with it.
