Cold Steel Laredo Bowie

Has anybody had experience with the CS Laredo Bowie yet?  It's a pretty knife, more like a short sword really.  But I wonder if it would hold up to field use.

I broke down and bought one.  Got a price waaaay below what Cold Steel recommends, although still pricey.  That sucker is as bis as a small sword, and the steel lives up to its reputation. It came out of the box almost as sharp as a straight razor.  The hilt is resin treated word, dark red-brown in color.  Overall, its got a nice balance and feel to it for a Bowie.

It reminds me a little bit of the Bowie knife on display in The Alamo, and I know ole Jim would have been tickled to have one.  Great knife!

When I first got my Trailmaster, I was putting up a treestand to hunt deer.  A 3-4 inch poplar tree had fallen across the sand road, and it was twisted in a way we couldn't move it by hand...I chopped through both ends with the Trailmaster, and it still cut summer sausage quite nicely for lunch!!  Congrats on your new knife!! :D

Thanks, Jeff. Glad to hear good reports like yours.  I just hope that, with the 'dressing up', the Laredo will hold up as well as the Trailmaster.  When the old-timers lived by their Bowies, that's why they used them - they cut anything and lasted forever!
