S&W 629 Round or Square bottom PIC ADDED
« on: February 17, 2007, 01:59:25 PM »
I recently "aquired" a 629 ...I thought by the shape of the grips that were on it, it was a round bottom. Bought a BEAUTIFUL pair of round bottom Hard wood, checked "super spiffy" grips/stock and they don't fit. Is there a conversion for this or....better yet, how do I determine what the pistol is...round or square??? ???

Just take the grips off and look at the butt, is it rounded or square? It really is quite obvious with the grips off.

Bill, took 'em off...it's square but the new grips follow the lines..sorta...I guess I have a beautiful set of stocks that won't work huh...no neat little kit to convert square to round to square conversion?? I may just have to shape and mold these puppies in then...they really are sweet!
 Thanks  Ken

They fit!  I had bought them from a local dealer just because they were cool, hadn't had the pistol long enough to notice one way or the other.....I got lucky! Thanks all.....I feel a little  silly... :o  but very lucky! Ken
