CZ American Safari / Safari Classics
« on: February 16, 2007, 04:08:53 PM »
OK...here's a good'un for ya.  My CZ550 is roll-marked "CZ550 Safari Classics", but I purchased it as a "CZ550 Safari American".   Figured the nomenclature should match.  I'm not thinking I got ripped off or anything, just wondering why the discrepancy.  Anyone got some insight?

The safari classics are the semi custom versions of the american safari magnum. Usually in the heavier calibers. They usually retail for quite a bit higher than the regular american safari magnums.  Sounds like you got more for your money.  You can check them out at www.czusa.com

For a split second, safarigene, I was thinking the same thing..."Score!"  But the stock, although "pleasing", certainly ain't on par with those semi-customs.  Is it possible one of those barreled actions was set into a lower-quality stock?  I doubt there'd be a significant difference in the quality of the action / barrel...is there?

KDM,

With CZ-USA, anything is possible.  Many people have ordered a standard grade American Safari, and found when opening the box that they actually received the upgrade stock with beautiful figure through it.  The Safari Classics, are chambered in 404 Jeffery, 450 Rigby, and 505 Gibbs, and I believe they are now offering the 500 Jeffery as well.

Does your rifle have the high gloss, or bead blast finish on the metal?  Those are the standard metal finishes on the "Classics".

Hope you have a "blast" with your new big bore!  Good shootin'!
