Knife dated 1861--who can tell me what its worth?
« on: February 13, 2007, 07:45:26 AM »
My husband was given a knife that is engraved with peoples names--seems to have been a gift from one man to another, then dated 1861.There is no company name on it--must have been hand made, I suspect.  Who out there can tell me what its worth-or who I can contact about it.

If you go to(and register at) the following websites, they have collector's forums where, if you give a detailed decription and show photo's might be able to answer your question.
http://www.knifeforums.com.  Bernard Levine's forum
http://www.knifenetwork.com
http://www.bladeforums.com

You can also Google on Bruce Voyles.  He's a noted knife auctioneer and expert.  Unfortunately if you contact him via e-mail he charges.  If you see him personally at a show or whatever it's free.
